The much-anticipated second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel arrives on Prime Video soon, and fan speculation has been widespread.
Season 1 presents a large cast of personalities residing in Hell and Heaven, pits them against each other accompanied by songs about their clashes, and establishes heated competitions and angsty, affectionate connections that drive audience devotion.
The fandom's stated hopes for the new season differ greatly, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Might we learn more about the binding agreement affecting Alastor the Radio Demon? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service specifically in mind," the creator commented recently. "But I feel like me being a devotee of the series means there's a lot of it just naturally. I also want to see these things, and I hope some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She says her big-picture plan is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have already been green-lit by the production companies, which finance the series.
That might mean viewers have to wait years for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season progresses, and how much of what they're waiting for unfolds this season.
"I believe people are going to get a lot out of it," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible disclosures, some really cool backstories, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the theories and desires about the upcoming season — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've seen a few fans create a prediction grid about the new season," she says. "Obviously I can't post it, but I've already completed a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I thought, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that brings me joy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on the streaming service on October 29.
